General & Booking
Everything you need to know about our free collection service, coverage areas, and managing your booking.
Absolutely. We collect directly from your doorstep completely free of charge. There are no hidden fees for donors—our goal is to generate funds for charities, not charge you.
We currently operate across the EH, KY, and FK postcode regions (including Edinburgh, Fife, and Falkirk). Use our postcode checker at the top of the page to see if we collect in your street.
It’s simple! Just select your preferred charity from our list above, enter your postcode, and choose a date and time slot that suits you. You’ll receive an instant confirmation email.
Not necessarily. You can leave your bags in a safe, dry place (e.g., porch, shed, or with a concierge). Just select "Outside the front door" or leave a note in the instructions field when booking.
Yes, of course. If your plans change, please email us at info@directdonation.co.uk at least 24 hours before your slot, and we will reschedule or cancel it for you.
We welcome donations of all sizes! To keep our collections eco-friendly and efficient, we recommend a minimum of 2-3 bags, but there is no upper limit. If you have a large volume (e.g., full house clearance), please let us know in the notes.

Donation Guidelines
To ensure your donation generates maximum funds for our charity partners, please review our list of accepted items and condition requirements.
We gratefully accept clean and wearable adult & children’s clothing, paired shoes, handbags, belts, accessories, linen, and small bric-a-brac items.
Yes, but only small items that fit into a standard medium-sized box (approx. 60x40cm). This includes ornaments, antiques, jewellery, watches, and small electronics.
Yes, we accept books as long as they are in good condition (no ripped pages or water damage). Please pack them in sturdy boxes as they can get heavy!
We cannot accept dirty or damaged clothing, duvets, pillows, cushions, large furniture, carpets, or large electrical appliances. Please check our full "What We Collect" section for details.
Please use standard, sturdy bin liners for clothes and strong boxes for breakable items or books. Ensure bags are tied securely and boxes are not too heavy to lift.
Your pre-loved items are resold or ethically recycled. The funds generated from this process are transferred directly to your chosen partner charity to support their mission.
